Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Sakarto at sakarto.com — whether through a web browser or as an installed Progressive Web App — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use Sakarto.
No account or registration is required. Simply visiting and using the site constitutes acceptance of these terms.
What Sakarto Is
Sakarto is a free, browser-based file management utility that helps users find duplicate and similar files (images, videos, and audio) using perceptual hashing and audio fingerprinting algorithms. It also provides tools for bulk file management: bulk delete, bulk move, bulk rename, side-by-side compare, and a media viewer.
All file processing occurs entirely within your browser. Sakarto does not operate any servers that receive, process, or store your files. It is a client-side application only.
Sakarto is free to use and is supported by advertising (Google AdSense). We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used. See our Privacy Policyfor full details on these services.
Permitted Use
You may use Sakarto to:
- Find and manage duplicate or similar files on your own computer or devices you have permission to access
- Find and manage duplicate files on behalf of clients or employers who have authorised you to do so
- Use Sakarto for personal, educational, commercial, or non-profit purposes
- Install the Progressive Web App on your device for offline access
- Share links to Sakarto and reference it in articles, tutorials, or reviews
Prohibited Use
You may not use Sakarto to:
- Scan, access, modify, or delete files on systems you do not own or have explicit permission to access
- Circumvent, disable, or interfere with any security features of the application
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the application in ways that could harm availability for other users
- Misrepresent Sakarto as your own product or remove attribution without permission
- Use Sakarto in any manner that violates applicable local, national, or international laws or regulations
File Operations — Critical Warning
By using Sakarto's file deletion features, you acknowledge and accept that:
- Deleted files cannot be recovered through the application, your OS recycle bin, or any built-in recovery mechanism
- You are solely responsible for verifying which files you select before executing any delete operation
- We strongly recommend using Queue Mode (enabled by default) to review your full selection before anything is deleted
- We strongly recommend maintaining a backup of important files before using any bulk file operation
- Sakarto assumes no responsibility for data loss resulting from file deletion, move, or rename operations
💡 Best practices before using file operations
- Back up your files before any bulk operation
- Use the Preview icon (🔍) to inspect each file before selecting it
- Use the Compare feature (⚖️) to verify two files are truly duplicates
- Use Move instead of Delete if you are unsure — you can always delete from the destination later
- Review the Delete Queue before clicking "Delete All" when Queue Mode is on
No Warranty
Sakarto is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Warranties as to the accuracy or completeness of duplicate detection results
- Warranties that any particular file format or browser version will be supported
Duplicate detection algorithms are probabilistic by nature. No algorithm guarantees that all duplicates will be found or that all found matches are true duplicates. Always visually verify results before taking any irreversible action.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sakarto and its creators, contributors, and affiliates shall not be liable for any:
- Direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of data, files, profits, or business
- Damages resulting from the use or inability to use Sakarto
- Damages resulting from any file operations (deletion, moving, renaming) performed through Sakarto
This limitation applies regardless of the theory of liability (contract, tort, negligence, or otherwise) and even if Sakarto has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions — in such cases our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
